Kapowui will be subcontracting Surf Instructors and assistants for spring and summer of 2022, starting March 1st. If you know anyone looking for a summer job please share this with them.

The sun, sand and sea will be your workplace and the hours are flexible. We are a licensed, permitted, and insured surf company looking for outgoing & active people who would like to earn great money during the spring and summer months.
$20 to $70 per hour, Paid weekly. 
Part-time work/ full time work. March through September. 
We only hire people with the following abilities & traits. 
Must be able to carry up to 40 lbs.
Must be able to surf.
Must have a smart phone.
Must be professional, reliable and honest.
Must be punctual and friendly.
Must be able to swim.

Job requirement

Show up on time (5 minutes before your lesson).

Clean your lessons wetsuits and boards unless you have back to back lessons.

If you are on Vcita block out times you are unavailable.

Reply to email ASAP(1-6hours) or they will be reassigned

When answering Vcita email, always check condition before accepting appointment time if conditions are not good at their requested time offer 2 alternative times.

If your lesson no shows or reschedules remove original time from calendar.

Give each lesson key chain after lesson.

Be professional at all times. (never pick up on your lesson, no cussing, smoke away from van, never show up intoxicated).

Give feedback and / or encouragement on every wave.

Never finish your lesson early unless they ask to, don’t give up on them so easy. Keep trying to get them to continue.

Your #1 job is to keep client safe. And 2nd, to get them surfing, if they don’t stand up and they request a second lesson, they get it for free and you are doing it for free.

The 1st time your lesson is walking in water with board, HELP THEM.

Give 100% or your attention to your lesson.

If you know Your lesson had a great time, ask for review on Yelp, google, FB, or Trip advisor.

At the end of the day help stack boards and clean wet suits.

Help keep wetsuits and Van organized.

Try to book lessons outside of kapowui sphere of influence, you get 10% on top of your pay.

All these requirements will help you be a better instructor, increase your tips, create a team atmosphere. These are the minimum requirements to keep your job. I will remember and reward you for towing the line. More lessons, Bigger lessons, bonuses, etc.. Have a watch to keep up with your lesson time. If you are having trouble with clients’ beach lesson, ask me to help if I am available.

Must have at least 1 previous employment references.
Beneficial to live close to the Venice beach, (but not Mandatory), and speak another language.
Those who stick around through the slower spring months will be given the larger lessons during summer as compensation. So you will make more money than the new hires. Must have a flexible schedule (many bookings are last minute). 
You will be trained on the Kapowui's lesson plan and must be able to teach this plan. You will be trained for 1 to 2 weeks. This is your trial period. 
Surf instructor pays is $20 per hour plus commission plus tips. Paid Weekly. You only get paid when you are doing lessons. Average $0 to $400 per day with tips and commission. The harder you work the more you make.
It is your responsibility to claim your income for tax purposes. 

Looking for administrator as well: answering phones, emails, marketing, booking lesson, cleaning wet suits, getting surf lesson ready for their lesson, renting equipment, some driving and sales. Starting pay $12 per hour quick pay increase to $15-$20 per hour depending on your sales skills.
