Hi, my name is Clay. To me life is about finding what you enjoy and love, and spending your time doing those things. A big part of that for me is surfing and skating. I grew up in Texas, playing music and various sports. I was into skating and wake surfing. I always wanted to live in a place where I could skate and surf daily and be around people who enjoyed the same things I did. As soon as I graduated high school I moved to Hawaii and surfed and skated everyday. Now i live in Santa Moncia, and skate the Venice skate park and surf up and down the coast, living my dream. I would love to pass along my  passions to anyone willing.

Flow with River! For me life is all about flow and the ocean is one of our greatest teachers. I started surfing 3 years ago when I first moved to California and I instantly fell in love! I do all sorts of hobbies like traveling, skateboarding, rock climbing, but surfing has always had my heart. I Surfed up and down the coast and I grew to love the process and the growth, every time I catch another wave I feel more and more alive. I also love to teach.

The Early Days of Skateboarding

It is said that skateboarding was first developed by surfers near Santa Monica, CA during the 1950s. The popularity of the television show Gidget caused a massive surf craze in Southern California and surfing enthusiasts were looking for a way to surf when the waves were flat.


Since 2008 Kapowui has dominated the surf scene in Venice Beach and Santa Monica.

Availability: 7AM-7PM daily! Our schedule fills up fast so reserve your spot now before we are fully booked!

How to Book: Select a service, then choose your date, time, and instructor. You pay a deposit at booking then settle your balance after your lesson
via cash, Venmo, Cashapp or PayPal or Bitcoin and gold bullion are acceptable too. 

After Booking: You will receive a confirmation email and your instructor will reach out to confirm the date, time, and location of the lesson!

We offer surf and skate combo days, you can either pick half day or a full day

Half day combo entails morning surf, then skate session or vice versa.

or afternoon surf followed by a skate session !

Full day surf/skate combo means we start our day with surf then skate sessions, followed by afternoon surf then a trip to the most popular skatepark in southern California, Venice Beach.  

We also offer yoga, surf, and skate combo

having grown up in South America near the sea marked my life, I didn't have the opportunity to start surfing until I was 15 years old, but I learned how to swim with my mom in this small town with giant waves called Pichilemu. When I finally had my first surf lesson in the sea, I knew that was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. So I bought everything I need to be in the water and learn to surf. From there it became my addiction and I could never leave it again, it is my search, my passion, my desire to be better to get up to go conquer those waves that, no matter how fearful I feel,

Kapowui is LA's favorite skate school! We teach skateboard lessons in Venice Beach, Santa Monica, and Los Angeles. We offer skateboard lessons for kids, adults, beginners, and intermediates. We offer both private skate classes and group skateboarding lessons.

 

What Ages We Teach: We suggest starting kids at 4 years old, but we do have some students who have started at 2 years old! We have no age limit on who we teach, so if you're 90 years old and looking to SHRED we will get you out there! We teach boys and girls, men and women, grandmas and grandpas! So no matter what age, gender, or skill level you are, we would love to teach you!

 

What Skill Levels We Teach: We offer skateboard lessons catered to any skill level! If you've never stepped foot on a skateboard, we will make you feel comfortable and confident in no time! If you're a beginner looking to develop a strong foundation, we will help you build it! If you're an intermediate looking to gain some new skills and tricks, we've got you covered! And if you're an advanced skater looking to become an elite athlete, we have the coaches for you!

 

What To Expect During Your Lesson: Each lesson will depend on skill level, appetite for risk, and goals. We have a training system that prioritizes safety, progression, and fun. Our goal is to make you feel as comfortable and confident on a skateboard as possible. We want to see you succeed! And our coaches are the most down-to-earth, knowledgeable, and easy to get along with. We treat you like our family or best friend when you skate with us because that's who we are. Teaching skateboarding and surfing is our passion and purpose. And we want to share that with the world. We want everyone to skate with us!

 

Lesson Info: Our skateboarding lessons are 60 minutes long. They include the use of a skateboard and helmet/pads in the price. Depending on skill level, the lesson takes place in the skatepark or the area outside of the park!

 

We offer after-school skate camps for kids, surfskate lessons, and corporate skateboarding events. We are passionate about teaching and love working with kids and adults alike.
